our company... Who Is the Cheese Lady?
Originally… Born and raised in Santa Monica, CA. Spent most of my teenage years in the San Fernando Valley, and yes I was a “Valley Girl”. My real work career began in Century City as a private chef and caterer and all around "Girl Friday" for those Hollywood types. Left LA for Marin and for a while I relaxed some. San Francisco drew me in for seven years where I enjoyed selling for Williams Sonoma. I was recruited by a French cookware line and became their three state sales Representative for several years. During this time I truly began to appreciate the small businesses that I sold to which lead to my exit from the City. My plan was to try my hand in the gourmet food game in the Sierra Foothills town of Placerville. As of September 2007, I have been open for 5 years! Initially, my friends and family that I might be crazy to embark on this adventure, they now understand how much I enjoy living in this small town I choose to make my home. Along with the day to day running of my store, I have been a Board Member and VP of the Placerville Downtown Association (the PDA), local event coordinator, California State Fair cheese judge. Currently, I have the pleasure of being the President of the El Dorado County Farmers Market and a mentor and job coach through Shenandoah High school. On a personal note, I am pleased to say that my parents and cousins who have also been a constant help to me have moved to El Dorado County and started their own lives. It’s good to be around family you love. And the most important new asset to my life here is my partner Jim Ellsworth, whom I share my home and my life with for the last four years. There are many more people to thank in my world of friends and family and of course there are my customers who continue to make all of this possible everyday they visit my store! Thank You! |

H. I just
moved to Placerville, and I found out about this store from -- where else --
Yelp. I called them up on a Sunday (of a holiday weekend) to see if they were
open. The girl who answered told me that they were closing in 5 minutes, but
would stay open a few extra minutes for me. continue
reading I have died and gone to heaven. A small store stuffed with gourmet delights and a knowledgeable staff. Fresh artisan breads, brined olives and all kinds of cheeses. This store is located in the courtyard off of main street, it' s a little tricky to find but well worth the search.
Janice P. This small store carries more than cheese. Great breads from local bakeries, pastries, decent selection of olive oils and condiments are all available. We bought Pecerino, continue reading
